USAMA KHAWAR GHUMMAN

Mr. Ghumman is a lawyer with eight years of experience in research, litigation, and advocacy. He has also been active in the academic domain, currently teaching as visiting faculty at Sheikh AHMAD Hasan School of Law (LUMS), which is also his alma mater, where he teaches international and constitutional law. While he was a law student at LUMS, Mr. Ghumman delved into Public Interest Litigation before the Supreme Court. Mr. Ghumman holds LLM in International Law as well as Comparative Constitutional Law from Columbia Law School (New York) and Central European University (Budapest), respectively. During his time at Columbia as a Fulbright scholar, he worked with the United Nations. At the UN, he worked on pressing issues in peacekeeping missions such as sexual exploitation and helped formalize legal mechanisms to address these problems.

His exceptional leadership skills and diverse experiences helped him establish Indus Law, Advocates & Policy Consultants as a leading law practice in Lahore. Through his practice, Mr. Ghumman has led efforts towards Strategic Public Interest Litigation before the High Courts of Pakistan, such as recent litigation for Police reforms, curbs on social media and freedom of expression, unconstitutional abolition of local Governments of Punjab, and protection of labor rights.
