Asma Jahangir Research Grant

Lahore School of Law announces to set up Asma Jahangir Research Grant in honour of Pakistan’s foremost human rights defender and lawyer and former chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. Each year, LSL will award one grant of PKR 100,000.00 to a student in an area of human rights—civil, political, economic, social, cultural, or environmental—in Pakistan.

The grant is open to Pakistani students of law in their last year of education and recent graduates with less than three years of work experience. All shortlisted applications will be evaluated by an independent committee.
Through this grant, LSL hopes to encourage young women especially students of law to take up research work and writing on human rights issues. This year’s list of proposed areas of research are

  • Reasons for women’s lesser visibility in the legal profession and how to eradicate those hurdles
